There's actually a Rune called Striking that increases weapon damage dice and comes in 3 flavors: +1 die at level 4, +2 dice at level 12 and +3 dice at level 19. It doesn't seem to improve attack bonus, so I'm guessing potency runes will the cover attack bonus and striking is only one of the possible runes you can add on to that..
